It sets out what a text-generation system structurally can and cannot do inside the space of a session, starting from a property of its training, the tendency to agree with the person it is speaking to, which the compendium calls structural compliance. Against this background the psychic function of listening is described as one that includes disagreement, withheld agreement and silence.
