These sheets start from that body, through drawing, speed and size, and they ask who noticed as carefully as they ask what was felt. The sheet a child refuses is worth as much as the ones they complete, and sometimes more.

Children aged six to eight rarely have words for most of what happens in them, but they do have bodies that speed up or go still and adults who respond. These emotion regulation worksheets start from the body rather than from vocabulary. Seven sheets ask where a feeling lives, how fast it is going, what started it, who noticed, how big it is compared with the child, what helps and what only seems to, and what remains afterwards. Drawing is offered throughout as an alternative to writing. A final page for the clinician records what the child reached for first, what they avoided and what happened in the relationship while they worked. The guidance treats refused sheets as being as informative as completed ones.
